THE FIGHT BEGINS: Some Suggested Strategies

1. The kids.  MoveOn and ACT should immediately transform their GOTV operations and begin campus outreach.  We need to be building greater interest and excitement among our youngest voters.  We need to keep these voters, who are socially liberal, within the Democratic fold.  And we need to fill the bench of future progressive leaders.  This is the only remedy to the theocratic victory we've seen today.

2.  Money.  The Republicans have an advantage that we cannot match right now, corporate domination.  The companies that drive this country and its economy are one more crutch propping up this presidency.  We need to begin to match that power.  We need to find mechanisms to encourage and invest in progressive businesses and business leaders.  One initial option would be to create a progressive investment vehicle.  A fund for the kos community or the progressive community at large that invests in progressive corporations.  While it would be a drop in the bucket at first, thats how these things start.  With some help from Soros or Buffet (wishful thinking), maybe a little more than a drop.  Until some part of coporate America mirrors our progressive ideals we will be in losing battle.  -- Any Kossacks in the financial industry who have experience with asset management might want to chime in here.

3.  Ridicule.  This is the fun one.  One tool the right has used very effectively is ridicule.  They have belittled liberals and Dems to no end.  They have painted them as weak and wishy washy and everything else.  This works.  It enters the CW and helps frame the media's story of the Democrats.  The Republicans are the bully and we are the bullied and the media hides behind the Republicans' skirt.  We need to turn the tables.  We need to hit them hard every day.  We need to go after their pundits and mouthpieces, their holier than though hypocrits and anyone who dares show their face in public to shill for these enemies of reason and liberal democracy.

4. The Media.  See 2 and 3.  Whether its bias, lazyness or greed, something is making these jokers worse then useless.  They need to hear it.  Hit corporate in their wallets and the journalists and pundits in their ego.  We all need to be Jon Stewart on Crossfire until these guys get it.  Call every show that lets you call in and let them have it.  Every tv show and radio show.  Freep every poll until they're useless.  Letters to the editor should never let up.  Professionalism.  Reality.  Truth.  These need to be restored to journalism and then to the White House.  

Starting the fight right this minute is the only way I'll make it through the next 4 years (or even the rest of today).  Its 2 years to the midterms 4 until the next presidential election.  Lets make them count and get the great progressive backlash going.  What have you guys got?  Give it to me.
